Nepal to Preserve DNA of Unidentified Flood Victims Before Burial
Authorities plan to recover DNA from flood victims' families as hundreds of bodies have been found since the disaster.

Following a devastating flood in Nepal, authorities have confirmed that they will collect DNA samples from families of the victims before burying unidentified bodies. This initiative aims to facilitate future identification, as many of the bodies recovered have decomposed significantly and are beyond recognition, according to the Prime Minister.
As of now, at least 675 bodies have been recovered since the severe flooding struck Nepal on Wednesday morning. The disaster has left local residents in areas like Dhading concerned, as many believe additional bodies may still be buried under thick mud.
The Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that police will assist the relatives of the deceased in the process of collecting DNA samples. This measure is part of a broader strategy to ensure that families can potentially identify lost loved ones amidst the tragedy.
