A report by the Russian exile media outlet Agentstwo has revealed that at least one in six Russian diplomats in Vienna may have connections to various intelligence services. This analysis, which is based on information from leaked Russian databases, names 21 diplomats operating in Austria.
The Austrian Foreign Ministry has published a list of diplomats that served as the basis for this investigation. The alleged links of the diplomats are associated with institutions such as the SWR, GRU, and FSB. The specific circumstances of these connections are detailed further in the report.
