Pedro Moura appointed new National Director of the PSP
Pedro Moura, currently superintendent, will take on the role next Tuesday, succeeding Luís Carrilho.

Pedro Moura, the superintendent of the Public Security Police (PSP), has been confirmed as the new National Director of the institution. Until now, Pedro Moura held the position of general coordinator of the PSP's Borders and Foreigners Unit, where he played a prominent role.
With this appointment, Pedro Moura becomes the third national director of the PSP in the last three years. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for the next Tuesday, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).
The current National Director, Luís Carrilho, will be moved to the position of liaison officer in Paris, succeeding Magina da Silva. This transition is expected to occur alongside the swearing-in of the new director.

The announcement of the leadership change at the PSP has been widely reported by various media outlets, including RTP and Observador. Several sources have highlighted the rapid changes in the PSP's leadership in recent years.
Pedro Moura's appointment is seen as a continuation of the PSP's approaches on security-related issues, given his previous experience in the unit he led. No additional comments have been reported about the future direction of the police or its priorities.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Pedro Moura has a background that may influence the PSP's strategies and operations in managing public security in Portugal. There are expectations that the new director will maintain a focus on border security and the handling of issues related to foreigners.
