Petrobras discovers signs of oil at the mouth of the Amazon

Petrobras revealed on Friday, September 14, the discovery of signs of hydrocarbons, which may be oil or natural gas, in an exploratory well in the sedimentary basin of the mouth of the Amazon, located off the coast of Amapá. This is the first time the company has identified such indications in the region.

The well, named Morpho, is situated approximately 175 kilometers off the coast of Amapá and was drilled in ultra-deep waters, at a depth of 2,886 meters.

In addition to the announcement of the discovery, a video was released showing Petrobras's drilling rig in the area shortly after the company reported the presence of hydrocarbons in the mouth of the Amazon basin.
