Powerful storms in US Midwest leave three dead and 800,000 without power
Severe storms with winds exceeding 80mph caused fatalities and widespread outages across several states.
On Tuesday, powerful storms struck the Midwest, resulting in three fatalities and more than 800,000 customers losing power across Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky. Wind gusts reached over 80mph, leading to significant damage as trees and power lines were uprooted.
In Indiana, a four-year-old child died when a tree fell on their home in Geneva Township. Additionally, a fatality was reported in Portage, where a house explosion is suspected to be weather-related.
The storms brought severe flooding and tornadoes, with warnings issued for continued risks of thunderstorms and heavy rain across the Midwest, the Ohio Valley, and the central Appalachians over the coming days.
