Pritam Singh Struck Off the Rolls Following Conviction

Pritam Singh, the leader of the Workers' Party in Singapore, has been struck off the rolls of lawyers by the Law Society of Singapore. This decision was made following his recent conviction for giving false evidence under oath, as confirmed by the Court of Three Judges.

The court, presided over by Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon along with Justices Kannan Ramesh and See Kee Oon, noted that Singh did not contest the application made by the Law Society, which initiated the disciplinary action after his conviction.

The ruling highlighted that it was not disputed that Singh's offences involved dishonesty, and the court determined that the high threshold required to avoid being struck off was not met in this case.

As a consequence of the ruling, Singh, who serves as a Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC and was also a non-practising lawyer, has been disqualified from practicing law. Both Singh and the Law Society acknowledged the outcome of the proceedings.
