Robert Koch Institute reports increased number of heat-related deaths

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has revised its estimates of heat-related deaths in Germany. During the extreme heatwave at the end of June, significantly more people died than previously assumed, according to the RKI.

According to the new estimates, the RKI recorded 9,600 fatalities in June alone linked to the high temperatures. This adjustment comes from a more detailed analysis of death data during the heatwave.
