RWE, a leading German energy company, has announced that it is ending its involvement in three wind farms off the U.S. coast. These projects are located near New York, California, and Louisiana and had partially begun.

In exchange for stopping these projects, RWE will receive $1.22 billion from the U.S. government. This financial support is intended to mitigate the impact of the cancellation of the wind projects.

RWE has stated that the funds received will primarily be invested in gas projects within the United States. This marks a shift in the company's focus towards other energy sources.
