Severe Weather Strands Hundreds in Victoria and the Philippines

In Victoria, wild weather has caused significant disruptions, with reports of potholes impacting drivers on the Princes Highway. A man died and a woman was hospitalized after a tree fell on their vehicle in the High Country, highlighting the dangers posed by the recent deluge.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the Coast Guard has reported severe delays affecting maritime travel across four regions due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as 'habagat'. As of Tuesday, August 11, around 419 individuals, including truck drivers and cargo personnel, are stranded at 11 ports due to the adverse conditions.

The affected regions include Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Southern Tagalog. In a Monday report, the Philippine Coast Guard indicated that at least 349 individuals had already been noted as stranded in ports in Western Visayas and Bicol due to the inclement weather.
