At the Diamond League final in Brussels, Simon Ehammer secured third place in the long jump. The athlete from Appenzell achieved a distance of 8.46 meters, thus failing to replicate his success from last year, but he nonetheless delivered an impressive performance that earned him a spot on the podium. The competition was won by Jamaican Tajay Gayle, who took first place.

In the pole vault, the French athlete Renaud Lavillenie did not compete as he withdrew from the event. This meant that the competition took place without the dominant figure in the discipline. Lavillenie's withdrawal was reported by both ORF and SRF.
