The oil services company SLB has confirmed that it will not participate in any activities related to hydrocarbon projects in the Falkland Islands. The company's decision is a response to the current situation and also extends to the surrounding maritime areas.

SLB, formerly known as Schlumberger, was not linked to the Sea Lion project, which is being developed in the region. The company is recognized for its strong presence in Vaca Muerta, where it has worked with YPF and Vista Oil.

Argentine President Javier Milei has announced severe sanctions for companies that engage in hydrocarbon activities in the Falklands. This measure aims to reinforce the Argentine government's position on the sovereignty of the territory.

In the context of these sanctions, it has been revealed that Argentina is investigating 45 entities for their ties to oil projects around the Falklands. This investigation is part of a broader effort to strengthen rights over the archipelago.

SLB's decision and the measures from the Argentine government reflect a hardening of the stance regarding hydrocarbon activities in this disputed area, a situation that is changing the landscape for companies in the sector.
