The Spanish government will assume total control of the migration crisis in Ceuta tomorrow, establishing a unified command that will include the president of the autonomous city, Juan Jesús Vivas, and the National Intelligence Center (CNI). According to reports, this decision will be made through a royal decree during the scheduled Council of Ministers meeting on Tuesday.

The unified command will be headed by the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres. This new approach is being implemented nearly a month after the migration crisis began to impact the city, which had requested a coordinated response from the government since July 30.

The first vice president and Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, announced the declaration of the situation as being of national security interest in Ceuta, which adds to the measures taken to address the crisis. This declaration aims to facilitate the mobilization of resources and necessary support to manage the migration phenomenon that has hit the region.

The proposal for the unified command is a direct response to the serious situation faced by local and regional authorities, who had expressed the need for a more effective command in light of the crisis that has seen an increase in arrivals on the shores of Ceuta.

The government has been under pressure to take firmer and more effective measures to prevent similar situations from happening in the future. With the creation of this command, the aim is to ensure a more coordinated and structured approach to the migration problem.

It is expected that at the Council of Ministers meeting, the creation of this unified command and the declaration of the situation as being of national security interest will be ratified, thus addressing the demands of local leaders and the autonomous Assembly.
