Steven (29) walks Dodentocht to honor deceased baby Jasper

Steven Onghena from Roeselare walks the Dodentocht in memory of his deceased nephew Jasper and raises funds for parents who lose a child.

Steven Onghena (29), from Roeselare, completed the Dodentocht in Bornem on Friday to honor his deceased nephew Jasper. Jasper, the son of his sister-in-law, passed away six years ago at a young age due to an illness, living only six months.

During his participation in the Dodentocht, Steven had a clear mission: to honor Jasper. He carries a special memory of the baby with him during the walk, highlighting his personal connection to the loss.

In addition to honoring Jasper, Steven has also organized a fundraising campaign for Berrefonds, an organization that supports parents who have lost a child. He has indicated that the response to his campaign is already considered successful, even though the walk has yet to take place.

In the coming month, Steven has planned other challenges as well, further demonstrating his support for the involved organizations. His commitment reflects a lasting memory of Jasper and the impact of the loss.
