Suicide Note of Former TMC MLA Asish Banerjee Discovered

Asish Banerjee, a former member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and five-time MLA, was discovered dead at his party office. Authorities found a suicide note, which reportedly detailed aspects of his political journey. Following the discovery, Banerjee's body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

The incident has sparked a political controversy, with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari suggesting that police would investigate whether Banerjee was facing blackmail. Adhikari noted Banerjee's character while implying that not all his colleagues in the TMC have similar integrity.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that Banerjee's death is linked to issues of corruption and irregularities within the party's authority, particularly in relation to sand tenders. This has intensified the ongoing political tensions in West Bengal.
