Supreme Court to Establish Committee for NEET Protest Police Investigation

The Supreme Court of India has stated it will create a high-powered committee to investigate allegations of police excesses during the NEET protests. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant confirmed that a notice has been issued concerning all related petitions.

During the proceedings, Justice Kant requested advocates to submit their suggestions regarding the scope of this committee by the evening. This consultation aims to ensure thorough examination of the reported incidents involving police conduct.

The announcement follows growing calls for accountability regarding law enforcement actions that occurred during the protests, particularly at locations like Jantar Mantar.
