Swiss cities call for national heat action plan
In light of extreme temperatures, Swiss cities are demanding a national action plan to better manage the effects of heat.
The Swiss Cities Association has called on the federal government to develop a national heat action plan. This comes against the backdrop of extreme temperatures exacerbated by glass facades, stone buildings, and sealed surfaces, which turn cities into 'ovens'.
The association points out that solutions already exist but are not being sufficiently implemented. To achieve a nationwide effort to combat these challenges, a coordinated effort between cities and the federal government is necessary.
