Tadej Pogacar withdraws from Vuelta a España after crash
Tadej Pogacar, the overall leader of the Vuelta a España, has had to withdraw from the race after a serious crash more than thirty kilometers from the finish.

Tadej Pogacar had to leave the Vuelta a España after a crash 33 kilometers from the finish during the eighth stage. Pogacar, who was wearing the red jersey, fell heavily on a mostly flat road during the race.
After the crash, he received treatment at the side of the road for an injured shoulder and tried to get back on his bike, but he was unable to continue the stage.
This is the first time Pogacar has had to abandon a grand tour due to a crash or illness. Earlier this year, he won his fifth Tour de France, further solidifying his status as one of the best cyclists.

With Pogacar's departure, Wout van Aert, who recently rode an impressive 150-kilometer stage and placed third on a first-category climb, takes over the lead in the points classification. Van Aert is now the new leader in this classification.
Van Aert's lead in the points classification comes after what he describes as a ‘truc spéciale,’ and fans are wondering if he can maintain the green jersey until the end of the Vuelta.
As the competition continues, some cycling pundits speculate that Pogacar may still plan solo attacks in the future.
