Tamil Nadu Launches ‘Presence-less Registration’ for Property Transactions
The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a new system for online property registration, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched the ‘Presence-less Registration’ system, designed to enhance efficiency and transparency in property registration. According to announcements, this new service will allow property registration for housing plots and apartments without the need to visit Sub-Registrar offices.
The ‘Presence-less Registration’ system is scheduled to launch on August 17, 2026. In its initial phase, the system will enable online registration by flat and plot promoters, as well as bankers and financial institutions, thereby simplifying the process for users.
Once fully implemented, the initiative aims to make online registration mandatory for the first sale of plots and flats in the state. This change reflects the government's efforts to modernize property transactions in Tamil Nadu.
