Nepalese rescue services on Saturday saved a third person from a tunnel at the Trishuli-1 hydroelectric plant. This man, a Chinese worker, had been trapped in the tunnel for over a week following the devastating floods on August 26.

The floods, caused by a major glacier and landslide at the border between Nepal and Tibet, have resulted in the deaths of over 1,300 people. More than 5,000 remain missing, including three Belgian tourists.

Last week, two other workers, Vishnu Thapa and Kabir Maharjan, were also brought to safety. Thapa described his escape as a two-hour search for light in the dark, water-filled tunnel.

The Nepalese army confirmed the rescue of the third man, who was pulled from the mud by rescuers and later assisted to a helicopter. Videos show the rescuers' aid and the joyful reactions of onlookers.

Rescue operations are ongoing, and dozens of people remain trapped in the collapsed tunnels. Nepalese authorities are actively searching for other victims.

The events have sparked a renewed sense of hope among residents and families of the missing, who cling to their hopes for more good news, despite the heart-wrenching losses many have already suffered.
