Thousands of residents of Ceuta protested today in front of the Government Delegation in the Spanish autonomous city, demanding the expulsion of migrants from the streets and calling for the resignation of officials responsible for managing the migration crisis. The gathering started peacefully, with the National Police present to monitor the situation, but tensions arose between the protesters and the security forces at various moments.

The protests began in the Fischer area and moved to the King's Square, where participants expressed dissatisfaction with the possibility of the city becoming a Work and Integration Center (CETI). The demonstrators also requested clarifications regarding safety issues related to the reception of migrants in the city.

Meanwhile, the Government Delegation in Ceuta supported the Interior Minister Fernando Marlaska's position, stating that it had not received notifications about a massive influx of migrants. According to the delegation, there had only been reports of a gradual increase in arrivals by sea, denying that any report had anticipated the events that occurred on July 30.

Divergences arose regarding statements made by Defense Minister Margarita Robles, with the Government Delegation contradicting information about the anticipated magnitude of the arrivals. This contradiction between governmental bodies may further aggravate the already growing dissatisfaction among citizens.

During today's demonstration, groups of around 300 protesters attempted to dismantle tents serving as shelters for migrants while throwing belongings into the sea. However, the police prevented any attempts at aggression and maintained order at the site, despite the intensity of the discontent.

Today's protests mark the second consecutive day of mobilizations, with hundreds of Ceuta residents demanding concrete action from the government in response to the migration crisis affecting the region. The situation is generating an increasing public debate about immigration policies and governmental responsibilities.
