Thrift shops and recycling centers close early due to heat
Due to the ongoing heat, several thrift shops and recycling centers in the Hageland are closing early.

Most thrift shops in the Hageland will close earlier today and tomorrow due to the heat. The store in Tremelo will maintain its opening hours until 6 PM, as it has air conditioning. Paul Stessens, the director of the thrift shops, emphasizes that the well-being of employees is a priority, particularly as they handle heavy tasks at the donation points.
In Glabbeek, the thrift shop will remain closed both days due to the high temperatures. This decision was also made to prevent employees from having to work in the heat.
Additionally, the recycling centers operated by Ivarem will exceptionally close today, Friday, at 3 PM. This decision was made out of concern for the safety and well-being of both visitors and staff.

According to reports, the closure of the recycling centers is also a measure to limit the impact of the ongoing heat. The same measure will apply on Saturday, August 15, when the centers will be closed for a holiday.
The combination of high temperatures and physically demanding work has led to these decisions in the region.
