Transavia, a low-cost airline owned by the Air France-KLM group, announced today the addition of a new route connecting Ponta Delgada in the Azores to Brussels in Belgium, starting in the summer of 2027. This addition will be part of the company's expansion of its destination network for that year.

According to information from the company, in addition to Ponta Delgada, the destinations of Heraklion and Thessaloniki will also be added. Details regarding ticket sales for these new routes have not yet been disclosed.

Currently, Transavia already operates flights between Brussels and other Portuguese cities such as Faro, and it also plans to launch a route to Porto, which will commence in December of this year.

The company’s strategy appears to focus on expanding its operations within the national territory, with the third connection between Brussels and Portugal being Ponta Delgada, thereby increasing connectivity between the Azores and the European mainland.

Specific details about flight schedules or frequency for the new route have not yet been released, but the company continues to strengthen its presence in the aviation market, offering alternatives to travelers looking to visit popular or specific destinations.

The inauguration of this new line is expected to facilitate tourism and passenger traffic between the Azorean islands and the Belgian capital, potentially boosting cultural and economic exchange between the two regions.
