The Turkish government has issued an international arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and another Israeli citizen. The decision was announced by Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek via the social media platform X. This warrant is part of an investigation related to the detention of activists who attempted to travel on the 'Gaza Flotilla.'

The arrest warrant coincides with heightened tensions between Israel and Turkey. Recently, friction arose due to an Israeli attack on a military base in northern Syria. This context has led Ankara to issue a red alert for the detention of Netanyahu.

According to the announcement, Turkey has also requested the issuance of an Interpol red notice to facilitate the capture of the Israeli Prime Minister. This request is part of the judicial procedure concerning the attack that occurred in international waters against the flotilla activists.

Additionally, Turkey had previously issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials, accusing them of genocide in relation to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza, according to various reports. These legal actions highlight the escalation of hostilities between the two countries.

The 'Gaza Flotilla' is a group of ships attempting to break the naval blockade of Gaza, delivering humanitarian aid to the population. Clashes between Israeli forces and flotilla activists have been common in the past, resulting in deaths and diplomatic tensions.

The situation in the region remains tense, and the issuance of this international arrest warrant by Turkey adds a new layer to the complex relations between Ankara and Jerusalem. This development also raises questions about the future of cooperation and dialogue between the two countries in a volatile regional context.
