Two workers rescued from tunnel in Nepal after ten days
Rescue teams successfully extracted two men from a tunnel in Nepal ten days after devastating floods trapped them.

On August 26 and 27, Nepal was hit by severe flooding that left many people trapped, including two workers in a tunnel of the Trishuli 3A hydropower project. Ten days after the disaster, rescue teams managed to bring the men out alive, according to official sources.
The rescued individuals were identified as Sanjay Sah and Kabir Maharjan. Rescue operations had become more complex as the days passed, despite initial hopes of finding survivors. As time progressed, efforts shifted mainly to recovering and identifying bodies of victims trapped in the debris and affected tunnels.
A rescuer from the Trishuli-3 tunnel confirmed the successful extraction of the two men, which brought relief to the emergency teams that continued searching for other potential victims. It is estimated that up to 42 workers may have been trapped in various locations during the emergency.

Throughout the week, rescue operations faced significant challenges due to poor terrain conditions and unstable weather. Nevertheless, the successful rescue of Sah and Maharjan renewed hope for the families and friends of the other missing workers.
Local authorities and several rescue organizations worked together to carry out these operations and have expressed their commitment to continue searching for the remaining trapped individuals. The precarious conditions the workers faced complicated the search and rescue process.
While the rescue of two survivors yielded a positive outcome, concerns remain for the lives of other men who may still be inside the tunnels, leaving the affected community in uncertainty.
