UN General Assembly: Speeches by Trump and Guterres
The 81st United Nations General Assembly opened with significant addresses from Trump and Guterres, addressing urgent global issues.

The 81st United Nations General Assembly began today at the UN Headquarters in New York, bringing together a significant number of world leaders, including presidents, prime ministers, and diplomats.
In his speech, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed to have achieved peace and predicted that Iran could reach an agreement after the midterm elections. He labeled Tehran as the "bully of the Middle East" and sent a direct message to Vladimir Putin, urging him to end the war.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres opened the assembly by evoking 'the specter of ethnic cleansing' in the West Bank, highlighting the impact of violence and displacement on the peace process.

In this session, which will be the last with Guterres in office, bilateral meetings are also expected between various nations, including a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Additionally, France is working on a resolution regarding the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring key agenda topics that include conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as global economic challenges and issues related to artificial intelligence.
The Cuban delegation walked out of the assembly, signaling diplomatic tensions and divergent positions among the attending nations.
