The UN has warned that 1.5 million people in Sudan could be without humanitarian assistance starting in September. The World Food Programme (WFP) reported that food reserves are expected to deplete by October unless the necessary funding is obtained.
According to the UN, the situation is critical and requires immediate funding of $288 million (approximately €245 million) to maintain minimum levels of humanitarian assistance over the next six months.
The WFP warns that without these funds, it will be forced to suspend economic aid in Sudan. This scenario could further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis already affecting the country.
The UN reiterated the urgent need for support and highlighted the severity of the situation where millions are already facing extreme shortages.
