Zelensky emphasizes need for Patriot missiles for winter
President Zelensky stressed the urgency of obtaining Patriot missiles to counter Russian attacks and survive the winter.
In an interview published on Thursday, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated that the country needs 5% of the Patriot interceptor missiles held by the United States to effectively get through the winter. He also indicated that 10% of those missiles are required to destroy all ballistic projectiles launched by Russia.
Zelensky warned that Kremlin attacks have increased, noting that Russia is launching twice the number of ballistic missiles per month compared to previous periods. In this context, he highlighted that Ukraine is facing a decrease in its air defense capacity, with two and a half times fewer interceptor aircraft than in 2025.
These statements come amid an escalation in attacks on the capital and other regions of the country, making the need for these defense systems even more urgent.
