A duo of French cybercriminals known as ZeroBytes has claimed responsibility for the theft of data from the French tax authorities. According to 20 Minutes, this group, which has a track record of cyberattacks, stated that it is primarily interested in financial gain.

According to Le Figaro, ZeroBytes also claimed to have hacked the information systems of the education ministry, thereby exfiltrating thousands of files. These documents span over twenty years and contain personal information about students and education personnel.

On July 31, the Ministry of National Education announced that it had been the target of a fraudulent intrusion, confirming that data had been compromised, as reported by France Télévisions.
