The Ministry of Defense has reported a total of 24 cases of scabies among the military stationed in Ceuta. This figure includes two soldiers who showed symptoms before the surge in the number of immigrants arriving in the autonomous city, according to sources.

The Association of Spanish Troops and Mariners (ATME) had previously raised concerns about the possibility of disease transmission among military personnel. This situation has caused worry in the context of the recent migration crisis.

However, the Ministry has indicated that there is no evidence directly linking these infections to contact between soldiers and immigrants. This point has been reiterated in several reports, which assert that the emergence of scabies is not a result of the mass arrival of migrants.

In addition to the military personnel, a police officer has also been diagnosed with scabies after serving in the same area. The situation is being monitored to prevent further spread.
