Body of US climber recovered after avalanche accident on Broad Peak
The remains of Sarah Mallory Geis, who died in an avalanche accident on Broad Peak, were recovered three weeks after the incident.

On Friday, the body of US climber Sarah Mallory Geis was recovered. She was part of a ten-member international expedition that perished in an avalanche accident on Broad Peak on July 30, according to the Alpine Club Pakistan (ACP).
The accident occurred when the expedition, led by renowned British-Nepalese climber Nirmal Purja, was struck by an avalanche. The avalanche caused communication with the expedition to be lost, and no survivors emerged from the incident.
According to sources, the last body, which has now been identified, was brought to the Broad Peak base camp on Friday morning (local time). Geis was the final missing person from the group, which consisted of ten climbers.

The expedition had struggled in the days following the accident to recover the bodies of the deceased members, but unfavorable weather conditions temporarily delayed the search.
The recovery efforts stretched over several weeks, involving multiple teams to locate the fallen climbers. The Alpine Club Pakistan sanctioned the recovery and coordinated the operations on-site.
In addition to Geis, nine other members of the expedition died in the accident. The climbers hailed from various countries, underscoring the international character of the group.
