In New York, commemorations took place for the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, an event that profoundly shaped contemporary history. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives during the attacks, particularly at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. More than two billion people watched the attacks live on television, while over three billion individuals were born after those events and have no direct memory of them.

The ceremonies were held at Ground Zero, attended by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and several former U.S. presidents, including George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden. Donald Trump, however, participated in the commemoration at the Pentagon, where similar events took place to honor the victims.

A particularly striking moment was the use of 2,977 drones, each dedicated to a victim of the attacks. The drones formed the silhouette of the Twin Towers in the New York sky, creating a visual effect that resonated with those present and solidly emphasized the impact of the attacks on collective memory.

In addition to the commemorative ceremonies, there were many cultural tributes related to September 11. Through films, documentaries, and even songs, artists from around the world sought to address and represent the tragedy and its consequences, contributing to keeping the memory of that day alive.

This year's commemorative initiatives also included the projection of historical footage of the attack and stories from victims and survivors, who continue to share their experiences. In New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, thousands of people gathered to pay tribute to the victims.

This anniversary thus represents an important opportunity to reflect on the lives lost and the legacy left by the events of 2001. The commemorations not only honor the victims but also serve to remind us of the global impact of the attacks and to keep the memory of those tragic events alive.
