The drought has led to easing of truck driving bans in some German states, as certain waterways, particularly the Rhine and Danube, are not providing sufficient transport capacity. In Austria, however, such a measure is not currently on the agenda, according to the Ministry of Transport.

The redistribution of goods by rail and road is working very well in Austria, eliminating the need for a general, temporary lifting of the weekend and holiday driving bans. A government representative stated that the situation in the country is stable and that no discussions about adjustments are taking place.
