During the debate on the State Budget for 2027, the Minister of Environment announced that the Government will implement new support measures for electric vehicle purchases. This program aims to specifically assist low-income families, who will be eligible for financial assistance of up to 80% of the car's value.

The Portuguese government has allocated a total of 50 million euros for this initiative, which follows a model similar to previous programs. The expectation is that this action will enable the purchase of over 20,000 electric vehicles by low-income families, according to reports from the media.

This support not only reduces the costs for acquiring vehicles but also seeks to promote the transition to more sustainable mobility in the country. Eligible families will benefit from the subsidy, which will be accessible through an application process.

The new measures reflect a growing understanding of the importance of accessibility to electric vehicles, particularly for those in financially challenging situations. As a result, an increase in the adoption of clean transport technologies among low-income populations is anticipated.

Specific details regarding the implementation of this support, including eligibility criteria and the selection process, have not yet been fully disclosed. However, reports highlighted across various media outlets indicate that the support will be widely promoted to ensure that eligible families are aware of the available opportunities.

The introduction of this support is seen as a response to the mobility needs of families with fewer resources, providing them with a viable and sustainable alternative for daily transportation.
