The Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, has requested that the government fulfills its promise to increase police presence in the city. According to Moedas, the Prime Minister had guaranteed the addition of 200 officers from the Public Security Police (PSP) and 100 municipal police. The mayor emphasized that this promise has yet to be fulfilled.

Moedas, who has already discussed this issue with the PSP coordinator in Lisbon, Luís Neves, stated that it is crucial for the capital's security that these placements are made. The mayor made it clear that to date, the inclusion of new agents, both from the PSP and the municipal force, has not occurred.

In a public statement, Moedas reiterated that "the time has come" for the government to proceed with the implementation of the measure, stressing the need for an immediate increase in police personnel.

This request comes in a context where public safety remains a central concern for Lisbon residents. The absence of the new officers has generated expectations and some anxiety among the population, as indicated by the mayor himself.

The failure to fulfill the government's promises, according to Carlos Moedas, raises questions about the administration's commitment to safety in the city, and the mayor will continue to press until the situation is resolved.
