Moedas orders Acampada de Lisboa to leave Rossio
Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas has decided on the relocation of Acampada de Lisboa to allow for the Christmas Market, a move contested by Renata Cambra.

Carlos Moedas, the Mayor of Lisbon, has ordered the Acampada de Lisboa to leave Rossio, based on a report from the Public Security Police (PSP). According to reports, the police notified Renata Cambra about the decision, warning that they may intervene to ensure compliance with the order, which aims to organize the Christmas Market at the location.
Moedas' decision contradicts a previous ruling by a court that had approved the camp's installation. The municipality suggests that a new location for the camp should be found in order for the Christmas market to be set up, aiming for what it considers to be the proper management of public space at Praça D. Pedro IV.
Renata Cambra, who represents the protesters, denounced the actions of the Municipal Police, stating that they went to Praça D. Pedro IV to remove the tents. In response, the defense has announced plans to legally challenge the measure through an injunction to safeguard the rights of the protesters.

Additionally, Cambra has requested clarifications from Carlos Moedas regarding the basis of his decision. The possibility of legally contesting the mayor's order has been confirmed, with the defense preparing to file a request with the court to declare the order null and void.
The Acampada de Lisboa, which has been in existence for some time, is a movement aimed at advocating for affordable housing and against real estate speculation. Currently, the situation appears to be complex, with the municipality trying to find a solution that reconciles the needs of the Christmas market with the rights of the protesters.
The unfolding of this conflict between the municipality and the protesters remains uncertain, with an expectation of new judicial decisions and reactions from both sides. While the defense prepares its challenge, the municipality maintains its stance on the need to vacate Rossio for the stated purposes.
