Nepal plans new early warning system after flash flood disaster
Following the devastating flash flood that claimed over 1,000 lives, Nepal is planning a new early warning system along the border with China.

Nepal is developing a new early warning system to better manage future disasters. This initiative follows a devastating flash flood that resulted in the death of over 1,000 people. According to insiders, the system will be installed particularly in the border region with China.
In the border town of Timure, various technical facilities are planned, including seismic sensors and cameras. These measures are intended to contribute to the early detection of potential hazards and reduce response times in emergencies.

Additionally, a satellite connection will be established to disseminate warnings even in cases where the mobile network fails. This was reported by two government officials familiar with the planning.
The initiative is part of efforts to improve the protection of the population in vulnerable areas. Details regarding funding and the implementation timeline have not yet been disclosed.
