New TVDE Regulation Law Comes into Effect
The new legislation allows taxis to operate as TVDE and mandates video recording in vehicles.

The new law regulating the Transportation in Unmarked Vehicle (TVDE) regime came into effect today. With this legislation, taxis will now operate under the same regime as TVDE services, changing the landscape of the transportation sector in Portugal.
The new law also introduces the possibility of video recording inside vehicles, aimed at enhancing safety. However, audio recording is prohibited, as stipulated in the approved legislation.

Despite the changes, industry representatives have raised concerns about potential unconstitutionality in the new law. These claims could affect its implementation and acceptance among taxi and TVDE operators.
The implementation of the law is being closely monitored, with industry groups awaiting guidance on the application of the new rules. The legislation may also lead to legal discussions as the involved parties respond to the changes.
