On Monday, several schools in Portugal remained closed due to a strike called by the National Union of Education Professionals (SINAPE) and another state workers' union. Non-teaching staff are protesting against poor working conditions and are demanding better rights and working conditions.

According to reports, the strike did not have any minimum services decreed, resulting in the inability of several schools to open their doors. Participation in the strike is expected to reach around 70%, with closures occurring from north to south of the country.

Reports indicate that the most affected districts include Lisbon, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra, Vila Real, Faro, and Setúbal. The difficulties in opening schools are impacting students and families, who are forced to alter their educational plans.

The affected educational institutions include both public and private schools, leading to a significant disruption in the normal functioning of the educational system.

The strike by non-teaching staff is a reflection of the working conditions that many consider unsatisfactory, and it was organized to raise awareness about the challenges faced by this professional category.

With the continuation of the strike and the lack of agreement between the parties involved, schools will face additional challenges in the coming weeks if the situation remains unresolved. Staff hope their demands will be heard.
