On the morning of this Monday, the Public Security Police (PSP) and Municipal Police removed about 60 tents that had been set up in Praça D. João I, in Porto. The encampment had been established by over 50 people since Saturday, protesting for the right to housing and against the rising cost of living.

The dismantling of the encampment occurred after the police classified it as 'illegal'. The demonstrators aimed primarily to raise awareness about the challenges faced regarding housing costs and daily living expenses.

Despite the removal, the protesters stated that they will not give up their fight and have already scheduled a new gathering for 7 PM the same day. Additionally, they plan to hold an assembly on Wednesday to discuss next steps.

The protest organizers emphasize that the housing situation in the city has generated growing dissatisfaction among young people, who feel increasingly pressured by rising prices and a shortage of affordable housing.

The previous protest received support from various local groups and associations advocating for housing rights. The actions aimed not only to raise public awareness but also to call for government measures to address the housing crisis.

The police's actions generated mixed reactions among protesters and the public, reflecting the complexity of the debate over housing and the associated rights in modern cities.
