Protest tents return to Rossio and Porto in defense of the right to housing
Demonstrators in Lisbon and Porto have set up tents, emphasizing the fight for housing rights following a favorable court decision.

Demonstrators have showcased their fight for the right to housing by setting up tents in Rossio, Lisbon, and in various locations in Porto. This action was approved during popular assemblies of the Acampada de Lisboa and Acampada do Porto movements, which outlined the plan to return to the streets on Tuesday.
The decision to return to the streets comes after a recent court ruling allowing one demonstrator to remain in the square until November 24. The participants are determined to use the tents as a means of ongoing protest against housing challenges in both cities.
According to reports, demonstrators in Lisbon began setting up the tents around 11:30 PM, indicating a clear intention to spend the night at the location. The same is expected in Porto, where protest activities are also taking place.

Renata Cambra, one of the demonstrators, emphasized that her symbolic tent was set up in Rossio, reinforcing the manifest presence of the activists. Organizers highlighted the importance of this gesture in continuing the fight for housing rights in the country.
The protests have generated varied reactions in society and politics, with some citizens expressing support for the cause while others voice concerns about the occupation of public spaces. This polarization reflects the broad range of opinions on housing issues in Portugal.
The continuation of the protests is anticipated, with organizers planning a schedule of actions aimed at maintaining visibility on the issue, hoping that more voices will join the fight for the right to housing. The next developments will be closely monitored by authorities and citizens alike.
