The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a yellow warning for 14 districts, including Minho and Douro Litoral, from 9 AM to 6 PM. This alert is a result of a depression located northeast of the Azores, bringing the possibility of heavy rain, hail, and gusts of wind that can reach up to 90 km/h.

Precipitation is expected to be more intense in the northwest, particularly affecting the Minho region and the Douro coast. Weather conditions also forecast the occurrence of thunderstorms beginning mid-morning, contributing to a scenario of climatic instability throughout the day.

In addition to the forecast of intense rain, authorities have also updated the situation regarding wildfires in the country. The IPMA noted that atmospheric phenomena could become even more severe on Monday, both in the North and Central Portugal.

The forecasts include the possibility that stormy weather may affect not only citizen safety but also the operation of various infrastructures. Emergency teams and civil protection services are prepared to respond to potential incidents.

The yellow warning is a precautionary measure aimed at alerting the public about the risks associated with adverse weather conditions. Public cooperation in following safety recommendations is crucial during this period.

The IPMA recommends that people avoid outdoor activities during the alert period and stay informed about the evolution of the weather situation through official channels.
