Bruno Dantas steps down from TCU; Rodrigo Pacheco nominated as successor
Minister Bruno Dantas requested an early exit from the TCU, and Senator Rodrigo Pacheco has been nominated for the position by the Senate president.

Bruno Dantas formally submitted his request for early departure from the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) on Monday, the 31st. The official resignation was communicated in a letter sent to the court's president, Vital do Rêgo Filho. Thus, Dantas, who could have remained in his position until 2053, decided to leave ahead of schedule.
Following Dantas' departure, Senate President Davi Alcolumbre nominated Senator Rodrigo Pacheco to fill the vacancy at the TCU. The nomination was also made on Monday, the 31st, and was signed by Alcolumbre and 19 other senators, including the government leader in the Senate, Teresa.
Davi Alcolumbre announced the intention to bring Pacheco's name to a vote in the Senate plenary on Tuesday, the 1st. The Senate president stated that if the quorum is low on the scheduled voting day, it will take place by Wednesday, the 2nd.

Rodrigo Pacheco has previously served as president of the Senate and is a member of the PSB party. His nomination to the TCU represents a significant change in the composition of the court, which is responsible for overseeing public accounts.
The departure of Bruno Dantas and the subsequent nomination of Rodrigo Pacheco occur within a context of political changes in Brazil. Dantas, whose retention in the position was expected until he turned 75, will now allow a new name to take on responsibilities in the auditing court.
The formalities related to the voting and acceptance of Pacheco's nomination are expected to be observed in the coming days, as the Senate president emphasized the urgency of approving the nomination.
