In southwestern Colombia, the Puracé Volcano has begun to emit ash and gases, prompting an orange alert due to the risk of eruption. This volcanic activity adds to the crisis the country is facing following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that caused significant damage in several regions.

As a result of the gas emissions, Popayán airport has temporarily closed, further complicating communications already affected by damage at other airports in the country.
