Livre opposes privatization of Social Security

The Livre party expressed opposition to the privatization of Social Security, asserting that the current system is the most effective for protecting citizens.

The Livre party declared itself "categorically against" any attempt to privatize Social Security, stating that the current structure best defends citizens' interests. This position was clearly expressed in a recent party statement.

In its statement, Livre accused right-wing governments over the last few decades of resorting to catastrophic forecasts regarding the future of Social Security. The party argues that these forecasts serve as a justification for the privatization of the system.

Furthermore, Livre emphasized the importance of maintaining the public nature of Social Security, which, according to the party, ensures greater protection and equity in the distribution of resources and social support.

Livre's expression of opposition takes place in a context of public debates on the sustainability and management of Social Security in Portugal. The party aims to mobilize public opinion against changes that could compromise the integrity of the social system.

The issue of privatizing Social Security remains a point of contention in the Portuguese political landscape, with different parties adopting varied positions on the future of the system.
