The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reports that over 1,000 Europeans have been infected with the West Nile virus, which is spreading across 15 EU member states.
In Greece, the number of West Nile virus infections has increased more than fivefold since July, prompting experts to call for enhanced protective measures.
